How to Use Hose Pipe Connectors?

A handy component that simply threads onto the threaded outlet of your faucet/outdoor tap.

Simple to use hosepipe fittings for easy connection between a hosepipe (or Soaker hose) and your outdoor tap. HydroSure have a range of hose end connectors for both 13mm and 19mm garden hose pipes.

Connect to a hose nozzle or other accessory. Features an internal flow stop that stops the water flow when disconnected from an accessory eliminating water wastage and the risk of getting wet!

Hose End Connector with Control Valve
The built-in ball valve allows you to easily adjust water flow or switch it off entirely. Use Control Valve Connectors to reduce the flow rate to micro drip, soaker hose or drip line systems that require reduced pressure to function. Alternatively, when irrigating vegetable plots or cut flowers where plants may be uprooted when harvested, install a valve in each pipe row to isolate water flow away from where it is no longer required.

How to Connect a Multi-Way Outdoor Tap Connector

Threaded directly to the tap, Water Distributors allow you to split the water flow multiple ways and connect more than one hose pipe to an outdoor tap. Use the built-in flow control valves to independently run watering outlets – The ideal solution when using multiple watering applications that require separate watering zones. Top Tip: Run two soaker hose systems from a single tap and install a Water Timer from each outlet. Don’t forget to leave the valves open and set your timer to water at different times.

To install a water distributor to the tap, expose the thread often hidden by an adaptor usually attached to most outdoor taps.
Top Tip: This component may have ceased onto your tap if it has not been used for a while. Carefully use a pair of pliers/clamps to help you remove.
The water distributor is now ready to install. Depending on how many outlets your water distributor has, it may be too long to spin the thread onto the tap. HydroSure Water Distributors have an independently spinning attachment collar so the water distributor remains in place and the collar can be threaded onto your outside tap.

How to Measure your Outdoor Tap

If your outside tap does not already have a quick-click attachment pre-installed, purchase an Outdoor Tap Connector. Most outdoor taps feature a ½” or ¾” outlet but it is worth measuring to get the correct size. To measure, take a ruler to the outside thread and note down the width between both widest points. If your tap, for example, is measuring 1” then minus ¼” of an inch to get the size of connector required. In this case, that would be a ¾” Tap Connector. If you are still unsure which tap connector you will need, HydroSure has a range of Connectors and Adaptors that accommodate two tap sizes in one fitting.

How to Water Plants - Watering Accessories

At the end of your garden hose pipe, install an accessory that delivers the required spray pattern for your watering requirements. A Watering Lance is ideal for more hard to reach areas such as hanging baskets or use a Spray Gun or Nozzle for watering vegetable beds, flower borders, in the greenhouse, pots and planters. For lawn irrigation or allotments, install an Impact orOscillating Sprinkler. These accessories most likely have a male quick-click adaptor compatible with a Water Stop Connector for simple connection in seconds.

Hose Repair/Joiner Connector

Male Hose Adaptor

Triple Way ‘Y’ Hose Connector

The HydroSure Castle Grip Hose Joiner is a simple yet highly effective way to repair a length of damaged hose pipe or soaker hose. It is also the ideal solution when joining a Soaker Hose to a Hose Pipe without the need for complicated connectors.

Use aHydroSure Male Adaptor to connect lengths of hosepipe or join garden hose to a soaker hose. Simply connect a Hose End Connector to each length of pipe using the adaptor to create the join.

Use a Three Way Connector to divert water in three directions, one from the tap and two to either a Sprinkler or Hose Accessory. Top Tip: Water pressure greatly reduces the more you branch off the water, use a Control Valve to branch off water independently at different times.

How to Fit Hose Pipe Connectors?

To ensure your hose connectors fit correctly and produce a reliable watertight seal, follow the below handy hints.

HydroSure Tap Connectors feature internal and external anti-perishable O-rings that promise leak-free connections to the tap and hose end connector. Top Tip: Connectors of lesser quality will over time begin to perish. Check the integrity of each seal ensuring the rubber is not worn or perished or purchase a long-lasting HydroSure connector.

A hose-end connector will feature castle grip teeth revealed once the external nut has been removed. These function to lock into the surface of the hose to prevent the connector from dislocation under high pressures. For an extra-secure seal, the castle gip teeth on a high-quality HydroSure Hose End Connector features grips angled towards the centre hose shaft for teeth that anchor themselves in place. For garden hose pipes with more than three layers or a thick nominal wall, you may need to gently prise the castle grip teeth open to accommodate the width of the hose.

To create a watertight quick click connection, be sure to pull back the collar of a hose end connector. Most mechanisms will then snap onto the male adaptor of a tap connector or require the collar manually pulling up to secure the connection.

For ultimate watertight connections and reliability, install connectors of the same materials together. Plastic connectors should be installed alongside other plastic connectors in the same way metal hose connectors should be installed together.

What Size Hose Connector will fit my Garden Hose Pipe?

The size of hose connector required for a garden hose is indicated from the internal bore measurement of the hose. A hose pipe with a 12.5mm/13mm bore diameter will require a ½” connector as the internal bore pushes onto the central channel. Use the below table as a conversion template to help you choose which size connector to buy.
