Solvent weld 40mm waste pipe
I two pieces of 40mm waste pipe, I bought from screwfix “40mm” couplers for the joint. However the joint actually says 43mm I’m concerned the waste pipe slides too easily on and off the coupler. I thought I’d really have to twist and push the coupler on.
I haven’t tried applying glue yet as I can’t really waste any connectors! Is this normal and will it be waterproof after being glued!
Thanks

Sounds normal but just check you haven’t got push fit pipe and make sure you use enough Solvent glue and then will be watertight

Get McAlpine straight couplers, as they are compression they will fit old and new type of 1.1/2” pipe.

hi
Screwfix has two types of 40mm waste pipes
1. 40mm waste pipes for use with 40mm pushfit fittings only
2 40mm solvent pipes for use with solvent weld fittings and also compression fittings.
You can't really use a pushfit 40mm pipes with a 40mm solvent fitting.
40mm solvent pipe onto 40mm solvent fitting is a tight fit before you even apply glue

This is normal (assuming you have bought solvent weld fittings and pipe), just use a quality solvent weld glue and twist the joint around as your inserting the pipe to make sure the glue spreads evenly in the joint. Wipe off excess glue quickly before it dries!
