No CommentsThe ASME B16.11and B16.9 fittings are most commonly used in industrial applications. The ASME has been responsible for producing pipe safety equipment. The standard is followed worldwide. This covers the aspects of the ratings, dimensions, tolerances, marking, and material requirements for socket-welding and threaded, hence all the forged fittings.
This Standard is applicable to factory made wrought butt welding fittings that range in sizes NPS ½ to NPS 48(DN15 to DN1200) and covers overall proportions, tolerance, ratings, and tastings.
When talking about ASME B16.9, It is a standard for all the weld fittings that are wrought butt welded and are produced in factories that range from NPS ½ to NPS 48”.ASME B16.9 is integrated by MSS SP43 which comprises the stainless steel and nickel alloy fittings.
This ASME standard covers socket-welding and threaded forged fittings. However, These pipe fittings are characterized as Class 2000, 3000, and 6000 for threaded end fittings and Class 3000, 6000, and 9000 for socket-weld end fittings respectively.
It is a standard for forged socket weld fittings as well Forged threaded fittings made out of steel and variety of nickel alloy material which is accessible in sizes that go from NPS 1/8” up to a 4”.
Both the product standards-ASME B16.9 and B16.11 offer complete solutions applying to aspects of ratings, materials, dimensions, tolerances and marking. Both are used in relation with material described in other volumes of the ASME B16 series of standards as well as with other ASME standards, such as the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the B31 Piping Code.
