Also, can I use PEX fittings on polybutylene pipe?

Repairs to PB Piping Systems There are a couple of options when selecting what type of fitting to use for the transition from polybutylene. The outside diameter of PB tubing is the same as for PEX, CPVC, and copper pipe so using push-fit fittings is one option you can use.

Secondly, is polybutylene piping the same as PEX? There are two common types of plastic piping which are known as PB (Polybutylene) and PEX (Cross-linked Polyethylene). The main difference between PB and PEX is in how the material is created. So if you will be pumping water, or the pipes will be exposed to the cold, PEX is a better option than PB.

Similarly, will PEX crimp rings work on polybutylene?

Use a brass barbed Pex X Polybutylene transition coupling, the crimp rings will work on both pex and poly, the crimping tool will work on both as well. The rings are slightly different, but that is so you CAN use the same tool to do all the crimping.

Can you glue polybutylene pipe?

There is no such thing as a "glued polybutylene system" and even if there was it is not approved by any code. It's FUBAR.
